"Hoof and Paw members create opportunities to help animals in the Fairfield County Animal Adoption Center and in our community. We support and sponsor adoption events, foster rescued and abused animals. We are advocates for all animals. Our members decide and drive the direction of the orgainzation. If a problem or a need for an animal is brought to our attention, we will strive to implement positive change for that animal." Shirley Locklair, President

"My current role with Hoof & Paw Benevolent Society is President. I see myself more as a facilitator or meeting coordinator. I may not be the best person for this position but my love and desire to help any animal is tremendous. I first started visiting The Fairfield County Adoption Center to give the animals some love and needed attention. I began to volunteer and found myself at the center every day. The more I was there, I could see how most people are dog lovers (as I am too) but the kittens and cats need love too. I want to be there every day to make sure they are being held, touched and socialized. I listen to them and I am their voice. I have learned their personalities and feel I know when something is wrong with them. They are all so very close to my heart and I want the best for them always. It warms my heart when they are adopted into their forever homes." Shirley Locklair, President
"Sonic is the reason I have come to join Hoof and Paw. I followed Sonic for at least a year, I worried about her everyday knowing she was on the streets fending for herself. With the love and care for animals, David Brown and Janice Emerson, employees of the Fairfield County Animal Adoption Center helped make Sonic's rescue possible. David took the time and was able to catch her, getting her off the streets. Sonic and I landed at the Adoption Center where I have been fostering Sonic for about a year now. The rest all fell into place by word of mouth and I landed in with a group of people who really want to make a difference in animal lives in Fairfield County." Chris Reynolds, Treasurer
"I have the honor of being the Secretary of the Hoof and Paw Benevolent Society.
My husband and I are very aware of the plight of animals in Fairfield County.
We feel that the group offers opportunities to educate people about the importance of spay/nueter programs, keeping current on vacinations and medications, important 'basics' of pet ownership that are often overlooked due to time and financial issues...however, pets are like children...one has to find a way to do what is needed. That is where Hoof and Paw steps in... Our 'furchildren' Starbuck and Shiloh are both rescues, we are lucky and blessed to be their parents!" Jill Sanders-Secretary
